Hello there! I’m Vishen Gounden, a loving husband, doting father and passionate software engineer residing in Johannesburg, South Africa. I’m a 35 year old nerd that loves to build things and solve problems, and have a lot of knowledge share and engage more with the broader community, both in software and personally in balancing challenging careers while maintaining a healthy balance of family life and pursuing other interests and passions! About this blog

I’ve found myself sharing documenting many helpful tidbits over the years, as well as sharing and explaining various concepts in my own way multiple times. I thought - why not create this repository of information that makes it easier to share and for others to discover, hopefully helping even more people solve their own problems. Ideally, this would be ‘ever green’ content - reasonably timeless bits of information that are always useful, but I’ll also share things interesting to me at the time, or solved immediate problems for me.

My expertise

My expertise consists of nearly 15 years of professional experience spanning a wide variety of skills thanks to a fortunate career so far in a variety of projects and situations. This ranges from web development on modern frameworks, to sophisticated backend service layers, to designing and building modern cloud native apps and architectures.
